The GOSS Girls Who Keeps on Giving…
A few months ago, several young ladies in my team approached me about starting a non-profit group where our mission would be to give back to our communities. They passionately told me how they wanted to not only be model citizens but giving ones. Philanthropy along with a passion for reaching back has been one of my main pursuits of focus within my team; and I was elated that they wanted to champion their own cause. Girlfriends Helping Girlfriends was the name they chose to represent the mission. This name was important because our first priority is to build up and assist women and children. Then the next order of business is to serve as an out-reach ministry to our surrounding communities, by providing goods and services.
So officially in March, Girlfriends Helping Girlfriends began their quest to become a prosperous community service outlet and a beacon of hope for women looking to have a better future. The group is currently made up of seven passionate young ladies with incredible skills and creative visions. Our dynamics and desire to give has already provided 50 homeless people with gift bags filled with toiletries and socks, partnered with one of Atlanta’s biggest transformation centers, “The City of Refuge”, and this month we are hosting our official GHG Launch Party where we will lobby for new members and conclude our April Clothes Drive. About our clothes drive, we started collecting gently used clothes of all sorts at the start of the month for all ages and genders. Using social media outlets as a PR resource, we have added several calendar events over next two months from mentoring sessions to weekend lock ups with girls and young ladies. Every member of Girlfriends Helping Girlfriends has made a commitment to uplift, encourage, and embrace other girlfriends. Winston Churchill states: “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” The ladies of GHG greatly embody Mr. Churchill’s sentiment. We do live to give…#ghgGives!!!
